[S2E8] Basic Training
After Ben's team defeats Trombipulor for his crimes of illegal Level 3 tech dealing, the Plumbers come and arrest him. When one of the Plumbers notices that the team has yet to complete basic training since they were made Plumbers in a field operation, they have to enter the Plumbers' Academy to complete basic training.
Hulka hates it when students use their powers because the curriculum is meant to apply to all students and using powers during lessons is an equivalent to cheating. However, Ben transforms into Four Arms and Swampfire on the training site. During a training session, the fusion grenade they are practicing with malfunctions and its mode changes from stun to overload. Tack can't release the grenade from his hand, even with the help of Magister Hulka. The grenade explodes, but they are saved when Ben transforms into Fasttrack. Tack is so impressed with Fasttrack, but Hulka is unimpressed because Ben used his powers again.
In the team's room, Ben and Tack have a conversation. Gwen and Kevin are sleeping, while Ben and Tack are still up since they can't sleep and go to investigate who sabotaged the grenade. As a result, not only do they not find the saboteur, but they are rudely woken up by Hulka and are tired. The team's punishment for Ben and Tack sneaking out is combat training with the Alpha Squad.
In "New Car," it was Elizabeth who put Mother Russia first, allowing Larrick to kill Lucia in front of her so that she could get the signals needed to complete the training camp mission. Philip, on the other hand, decided to just tie up (and not execute) a truck driver they kidnapped in order to gain information about entry to the training camp. Philip's actions are particularly interesting given the fact that his renewed vigor in Americana (after buying a brand-new Chevy Camaro Z/28) was soured upon the discovery that the plans he had stolen turned out to be faulty, resulting in the deaths of 160 individuals. But interestingly, he didn't take his emotions out on the truck driver. He also showed mercy towards Martha after she softened her stance regarding her spying.
Hindsight's 20/20 when a flashback to 2006 has Victoria getting a surprise visit from her estranged mother, triggering memories of her tumultuous upbringing. Emily embarks on her first mission under Takeda's training, where she meets Aiden and learns of his revenge path. 2006 is also the year Nolcorp goes public, and Carl Porter gets into hot water when he crosses the wrong people on the docks.
Extended: Skales is crowned as the Snake King, and as his first act, he plans to destroy the foundations of Ninjago, bringing it down around the population. At the Mojo Dojo, Lloyd is continuing his training, while Sensei Wu and Misako prepare to go over her research on the prophecy; Wu is slightly uncomfortable because of her relationship with Garmadon and the fact that he could have been her husband. Everything is stopped when the Serpentine begin their destructive campaign, sending the city into chaos. But the Serpentine come up against a barrier, an ancient door inscribed with carvings which look like Skales. He finds a switch that opens the doorway, revealing a vault where the Stone Army rest. The Great Devourer's venom melts through the roof of the vault and starts dripping on the statues, bringing them to life. They defeat the Serpentine and exit the vault, which closes behind them, trapping Skales and his people underground once again. The Stone Army rises and the city begins to evacuate, with the Ninja providing transport for those left behind, including comic-book writer Rufus, Dareth and the Bank Manager. The Ninja, with Lloyd, Nya and the Ultra-Dragon, gather the people and flee Ninjago City, though Misako stays behind to get her research and she and Sensei Wu are nearly left behind. Meanwhile, on the Dark Island, Garmadon is guided by the Overlord to an ancient orrery-like clock, designed to count down to the final battle. Garmadon dons the Helmet of Shadows, which both starts the clock and gives him command over the Stone Army.[citation needed]
Meanwhile, the ninja are training Lloyd to fight without using his eyes in Dareth's Dojo, making a mess in the process. While Sensei Wu waits in the Destiny's Bounty, he uncovers under his hat a picture of himself, Misako, and Garmadon before his banishment. Misako appears behind him, commenting that she had forgotten how pale Garmadon used to be. She shows Sensei Wu her research of the Green Ninja's prophecy, and while he is gazing over it she mentions how she should have chosen him instead. Master Wu says that the past is the past, but Misako takes his hand as she insists that there is always the future. However, they are interrupted by a strong earthquake, and Zane sends his Falcon to scout for danger. 041b061a72
